Arte-à-Porter

A capsule collection fusing the high-end craftsmanship of the Studio Tondini leather goods with the artistic expression of Gabriella Martinelli, known for her powerful yet sensitive language.

An encounter between creative worlds, united by a profound communion of values: authenticity, awareness, and respect. Each piece tells a story, becoming not only a design object but also a narrative vessel: wearable art, carrying universal meanings in multiple forms.

Studio Tondini embodies a form of luxury that speaks of substance, of ethical choices, and of a beauty born from respect. Together, we wanted to create objects that are also poetic gestures, tools for expressing a different way of living and inhabiting the world. I deeply believe in an art that dwells within things, that flows through them and brings them to life, speaking directly to the soul. With Studio Tondini, we sought to tell a story made of matter, care, and expressive freedom. Each bag is a unique fragment of this narrative.” - Gabriella Martinelli

About Gabriella Martinelli

Gabriella Martinelli is a versatile artist, a multi-instrumentalist musician and a contemporary painter.

Over the years, she received prestigious awards and released four albums, the latest with Universal Music Italy. She was chosen to represent in Peru the new Italian generation distinguishing itself for talent and originality. She is also among the featured talents of Come to My Home, a project born in Africa that brings together artists from all over the world with the aim of blending arts, cultures, and nationalities.

She competed at the 70th Sanremo Music Festival, in the “New Proposals” category with the song Il Gigante d’Acciaio (The Steel Giant). She also oversees the artistic direction of numerous projects in Italy and abroad, often engaging in collaborations with artists from different backgrounds.

Her creativity extends to fashion as well: she works with designers, painting unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. For Gabriella, boundaries do not exist - fashion, too, merges with art. “What prevails is the creative drive; the only thing that changes is the form of expression,” the artist says.

Hosted as a guest at Dumbo in Bologna during Booming Contemporary Art Show, she painted the cover of her latest album, L’amore è una scusa (Love is an excuse), together with her fans. The work was the result of an art workshop guided by the natural impulse within us that communicates and moves.

Gabriella has exhibited her paintings on numerous occasions, gaining both great success and keen attention from audiences; today her works are highly sought after. Her paintings, with their bold, vibrant, and often complementary colors, create a visual interplay of circular forms immersed in infinite space.

Her experience as a musician has deeply shaped - and continues to enrich - her approach to painting, through emotional expression, structure, rhythm, and synesthesia. “I use principles such as repetition, variation, and contrast to create a sense of visual rhythm on the canvas. My musical experiences often translate into images and colours in my mind, influencing the visual representation of my works.”

Conceptual description of the artist's pieces:

Movement is a key element in the artist’s creative process. Gabriella uses her body as an instrument of expression, immersing herself in paint and performing broad, rapid, and spontaneous gestures to generate lines, forms, and textures that unfold organically and dynamically. The surface becomes a place where energy can be freely released. The canvas is matter. The body is matter, carrying within it the process that brings forth new matter - the artwork itself.

This approach allows her to convey emotions in a direct and immediate way. Gabriella Martinelli’s works are the expression of dreams, fragilities, and emotions that embody a sense of freedom, spontaneity, and vitality, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in a visual and sensorial experience.

She employs brushes, spatulas, and various parts of her body - hands, legs, arms, feet, and neck - allowing the paint to flow, creating splashes, drips, and interlaced lines that overlap and weave together, giving life to a vibrant composition where color moves as an ever-unfixed energy.

Each of Martinelli’s art pieces is an ode to freedom, an invitation to break free from social conventions and lose oneself in the circularity of time, in the depths of colours that evoke the sea, breath, and balance. Richly nuanced tones ripple across circular movements, symbolizing continuity, infinity, and the passage of time as a captivating constant to be explored. Everything returns, and nothing is ever truly lost...
