Close-up of a Studio Tondini artisan sewing leather components, highlighting precision craftsmanship, durability, and the brand’s commitment to repair and product longevity.

Materials, Care, and Repairs

Each Studio Tondini piece is crafted in Italy from carefully selected Made in Italy materials, with rare exceptions stated transparently.

Our materials are chosen for their beauty, durability, and ability to accompany life over time.

Natural variations in colour and texture are inherent to these materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece.

With use, the materials will also evolve and develop marks and nuances that reflect their life over time.

These changes are not imperfections.

They are part of the material’s nature - and of the relationship between the object and its owner.

To support the longevity of each piece, we are pleased to offer repair services.

For any request, please contact us via this form.

Storage:

When not in use, fill your piece with the provided paper to preserve its shape and store it in its dust bag. Keep it in a clean, dry environment, away from direct light and humidity. Additional protective measures may be considered depending on storage conditions.

Leather

Close-up sequence of Studio Tondini’s distinctive Made in Italy bovine leather, highlighting its smooth surface and signature V-shaped construction.

About our leathers:

We selected our distinctive Made in Italy bovine leathers for their natural durability and ability to age gracefully over time.

All our leathers are sourced from Italian tanneries and traders certified as LWG Gold or LWG Approved Trader.

For generations, leather has remained one of the most enduring materials in high-end accessories, appreciated for its strength, character, and longevity.

The Italian tanning industry operates under some of the world’s most rigorous environmental and social standards, promoting responsible sourcing and advanced safeguards for animals, people, and the environment. Within this framework, hides can be sourced exclusively as a by-product of the food supply chain - ensuring that no animals are killed for their skin.

General care:

Leather is a natural material, the colour of which may transfer on other items/textiles.

To avoid this, we recommend not to use/wear our products:

- in direct and prolonged exposure to atmospheric agents (such as, for example: sun, rain, snow, hail, sea water, sand), and/or

- into contact with garments/accessories which might abrade, scratch, carve the leather, and/or

- with garments/upholstery having particularly light colouring or being made out of particularly delicate materials, and/or

- into contact with oil or grease of any kind.

Cleaning:

Our leather does not require the application of any leather care cream on it. Should you anyway wish to use one, we suggest to recur exclusively to a specialised, neutral leather care product, and to test it first on a hidden area of your Studio Tondini item. Follow the specific cream's instructions in order to ensure its proper use.

Should the leather of your product become wet or dirty, we recommend to clean and/or dry it as soon as possible by using a soft damp cloth.

Use the cloth in gentle circular movements to polish and let the item dry in a dark, airy place. Avoid direct heat.

Ensure the product is completely dry before storing it.

Piñatex®

Close-up sequence of Studio Tondini’s Piñatex®, showcasing its distinctive texture and naturally expressive surface in different colours.

About our Piñatex®:

We believe in individual preferences, and in the power of thoughtful innovation.

When exploring alternatives to leather, we challenged ourselves to work with materials that are highly natural in composition: for us, innovation is most meaningful when it remains closely connected to nature. Discover more about our approach here.

For this reason, we selected Piñatex®: a material created from pineapple leaf fibres and among the most natural leather alternatives available.

Lightweight and distinctive in texture, it gives value to what would otherwise remain an agricultural by-product. By repurposing pineapple leaves that might otherwise be discarded or burned, its production benefits both farming communities and the environment.

The Piñatex® variants we use are composed of 90–95% natural materials and are finished in either Spain or Italy.

General care:

Piñatex® is a natural material, the colour of which may transfer on other items/textiles.

To avoid this, we recommend not to use/wear our products:

- in direct and prolonged exposure to atmospheric agents (such as, for example: sun, rain, snow, hail, sea water, sand), and/or

- into contact with garments/accessories which might abrade, scratch, carve Piñatex®, and/or

- with garments/upholstery having particularly light colouring or being made out of particularly delicate materials, and/or

- into contact with oil or grease of any kind.

Metallic foil care:

The shiny metallic finishing makes the item manufactured with it particularly delicate.

Metallic foil is extremely sensitive to abrasion.

We therefore recommend to handle with the outmost care and extremely gently, in order to let it retain its appeareance for as long as possible.

Cleaning (Instructions kindly provided by Ananas Anam Ltd.):

Clean your product thoroughly and effectively using a cloth soaked in warm soapy water. If your item is heavily soiled, you can rinse with lukewarm water but never fully submerge the product as this may cause irreversible damage.

Let your item dry before any application is made and refrain from using a heat source to dry more quickly, as this could cause damage.

Waxing (Instructions kindly provided by Ananas Anam Ltd.):

Ananas Anam Ltd., producer of Piñatex®, recommends using a natural colourless wax for your Piñatex® products (except those having metallic foil-finishing). Apply a small amount to a dry, soft cloth and rub sparingly over the textile in a circular motion until fully absorbed. Do not use too much wax as it may not fully absorb.

Leave your item to dry naturally for 24 hours after application.

You can also buff the wax off with a dry cloth or soft brush.

Canvas

Close-up sequence of Studio Tondini’s Made in Italy cotton and linen canvas, highlighting its distinctive weave and natural texture.

About our canvas:

We selected our Made in Italy canvas for its sophistication.

Rather than relying on synthetic surface coatings, we chose to preserve the character of natural fibres.

Their weave and their water-repellent treatment enhance practicality while keeping their authentic feel to the touch.

By working with cotton and linen, we celebrate materials that are natural, breathable, and intended to be lived with for years to come.

General care:

Our canvas' coating has a waterproof treatment applied to it, although this does not make the material waterproof.

Our canvas is made of natural materials, the colour of which may transfer or be transferred on/from other items/textiles.

To avoid this, we recommend not to use/wear our products:

- in direct and prolonged exposure to atmospheric agents (such as, for example: sun, rain, snow, hail, sea water, sand), and/or

- into contact with garments/accessories which might abrade, scratch, carve the canvas, and/or

- with garments/upholstery having particularly light or dark colouring or being made out of particularly delicate materials, and/or

- into contact with oil or grease of any kind.

Cleaning:

Should the canvas of your bag become wet or dirty, we recommend to clean and/or dry it as soon as possible by using a soft damp cloth.

Use the cloth in gentle circular movements to clean and let the item dry in a dark, airy place. Avoid direct heat.

Ensure the product is completely dry before storing it.

In case you wish to apply a water-repellent treatment, we suggest to recur exclusively to a specialised, neutral water-repellent product, and to test it first on a hidden area of your Studio Tondini item. Follow the specific water-repellent product's instructions in order to ensure its proper use.

Hardware

Close-up sequence of Studio Tondini’s tailor-made brass logo plate and jewellery-inspired hardware details across the collection.

About our hardware:

We believe hardware should serve both function and beauty. For this reason, it is never treated as an afterthought throughout our collections. Each element is carefully considered to support function while remaining in harmony with the overall design.

We selected our tailor-made, nickel-free hardware for its substance and solid durability.

Each component is Made in Italy, from brass and finished with precious metals (palladium, gold, ruthenium).

Inspired by the standards of fine jewellery, every piece is crafted individually, plated through attentive processes, and manually polished to achieve its distinctive brilliance.

General care:

Our hardware's coating is resistant to wear, although polished hardware might scratch.

To avoid this, we recommend not to use/wear our products:

- in direct and prolonged exposure to atmospheric agents (such as, for example,: sun, rain, snow, hail, sea water, sand), and/or

- into contact with garments/accessories which might abrade, scratch, carve the hardware, and/or

- into contact with oil or grease of any kind.

Cleaning:

Should the hardware of your bag become wet or dirty, we recommend to clean and/or dry it as soon as possible by using a soft damp cloth.

In case you wish to use a polish product, we suggest to recur exclusively to a specialised, neutral metal care product, and to test it first on a hidden area of your Studio Tondini product.

Use the cloth in gentle circular movements to polish and let the item dry in a dark, airy place. Avoid direct heat.

Ensure the product is completely dry before storing it.
